Bittersweet victory for gay adults kicked out of Scouting
Fri May 24, 2013
I did a little research after reading a comment from a man who said he would withdraw his sons from Scouts for condoning the sin of homosexuality.
Tornado birth: Mom endures labor as twister destroys hospital
Wed May 22, 2013
A-mazing!! Goddess bless you all and good luck with your beautiful family. I totally agree with Debbi above. Best "when I was in labor" story ever. In the midst of chaos....hope.
Dirty dogs: Homes with pooches loaded with bacteria
Wed May 22, 2013
We'll keep the dog in spite of the germs, thanks. Benefits far outweigh the problems. Oh and... no one ever died in my house because of a little Clorox Clean-Up.
Neanderthal baby had only breast milk for 7 months
Wed May 22, 2013
Obviously no Gerber in those days. On the other hand....Neanderthals went extinct. So how are their infant feeding habits an indicator of good health?
Delivery room drama: Has birth become a spectator sport?
Mon May 20, 2013
OK, thanks everyone who contributed to this conversation. I have both viewpoints. I was a labor and delivery nurse for 15 years and saw just about every family situation you can imagine. Also, I was a mom times 3 when I started into nursing. I can't tell you how grateful I am …

Sun May 19, 2013
My husband and I have worked (outside the home) for more than 40 years. We have recently retired and are perfectly capable of managing on our own. Our children, bless them, are still taking parental donations. Explain to me how this means they are burdened by our retirement.&n …
'Slow-motion disaster': California houses sinking into the ground
Sat May 11, 2013
Sorry, Samantha. ALL flood insurance is controlled by the government through the NFIP (National Flood Insurance Program). Private insurers can sell the insurance but it is provided by the US Gov. I recently retired from a local flood board so I know these things. Subsidence.
Sharif declares victory in landmark Pakistan election
Sat May 11, 2013
Pigotry at least found something positive to say. Refreshing after all the "ah, it'll never work" crowd. The Pakistanis stuck it out despite violence from the Taliban and had an actual election. Good for them. Now, as one poster said, all we can do is wait to see what they do next.
Iowa's biggest economic project ever: $1.9b wind turbine plan
Wed May 8, 2013
Also far far fewer birds than those killed by the environmental degradation caused by fossil fuels. Overall, using wind instead will see a net saving of birds.
Missouri mom killed when party bus doors fly open
Mon May 6, 2013
Pigotry tries to express a little compassion and gets nailed by politics. Apparently one's political stance affects one's availability of compassion. An accident...a terrible personal loss... and everyone gets political. How sad.
